| history |
From the moment Billy Chenowith was born, it was almost written in stone that he would not have a normal upbringing. Both of his parents were polygamist psychiatrists, and his older sister, Brenda, was abnormally smart. In fact, Brenda Chenowith was so brilliant that her parents let other psychiatrists study and document their daughter’s behavior. There was one in particular though; a man who wrote a book about Brenda called Charlotte Light and Dark, and his name was Gareth Feinberg. Billy always hated what the doctors, mainly Dr. Feinberg, did to his sister. They picked her apart, twisting and manipulating her actions and words to diagnose her…but what they didn’t know was that Brenda, his brilliant sister, sometimes did very strange things to get out of talking to these Doctor’s. For example, at one point, Brenda stopped speaking for quite a long time, and only answered questions barking like a dog, growling at whoever would be asking her questions. Billy absolutely adores Brenda…and is extremely possessive of her, as well. The two of them actually got matching tattoos on their lower back, representing how much they cared about each other. The tattoo on Brenda’s back reads ‘Nathaniel’, while Billy’s read ‘Isabel’. They were from the books entitled ‘The Adventures of Nathanial and Isabel’, a dark themed series about two orphan children who were always trying to escape an evil nurse. He doesn’t think anyone else should be able to have her, because he needs her, and according to Billy, she needs him as well. Brenda was always his caretaker, always looking out for him, making sure that he didn’t get hurt, and that he was well protected. But things got out of hand, when she first fell in love with a man--…no, a boy named Trevor. The eldest Chenowith had dreams of going away to Yale with Trevor, but returned home when she heard of Billy’s suicide attempt, and never went back. Instead, she stayed with her younger brother, worried that if she left again, he would try to hurt himself again. It wasn’t until many years later did she find out that Billy had actually burned down a section of the family house after a bomb that he had created for Trevor exploded. Billy was more than happy that he had his sister back. She was his, and he needed her, and she needed him. He would never stop believing that. Everything was going alright…for a while. Billy was still mentally ill, and was on medication, but every now and then, usually around the holidays, he stopped taking his pills. He even went to LAC-Arts to become a photographer. Nothing too drastic ever happened, but he would become extremely depressed, crying non-stop for hours, for no reason at all. He had several relationships with many females throughout the years, but never had an actual girlfriend. The reason for this, aside from being emotionally unstable, was because secretly he has always been in love with his sister. The feelings are not mutual, and Billy always knew this, but he didn’t want her to ever love anyone else. He tried to sabotage any relationship she had, which was why when she started dating Nathaniel Fisher, Billy was not exactly pleased. He became interested in Nate’s much younger sister Claire, or at least pretended to be. Because Billy is a photographer, he took a few pictures of Claire as she playfully posed for him, but there was one photo that he took of the both of them, a photo of him kissing her while also feeling her up that would be used as blackmail at a later date. Another problematic photo that Billy took, was a snap of Nate urinating against a wall; something that was displayed in a public gallery much to Nate’s chagrin. Billy didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong with the picture, that it was just a piece of art, but Nate was freaked out that he had been able to take the picture at all, leading him to believe that Billy had been following him. Billy’s actions only got more and more outrageous as time went on. After Brenda found out just how dangerous Billy could be when she finds out that he had completely destroyed Doctor Feinberg’s office after Margaret Chenowith had invited the man to Billy’s art gallery. Writing ‘Nathaniel and Isabel’ in bright red letters on the wall of the trashed office, he steals all of Brenda’s files from his office and destroys them in the family swimming pool, screaming and yelling at his parents about how they fucked up Brenda’s life. Brenda tells Billy to stay away from her for a while. The couple goes to Las Vegas for a good time, to try and get away from all of their troubles, only to have Billy follow them there. He tries to get between Brenda and Nate again, and even after being physically shoved away by Nate, he continues to try and destroy their relationship. He even sneaks into their hotel room, taking a picture of the two while they slept using their own disposable camera. When the pictures were developed, it caused another tear in Brenda’s and Billy’s relationship. Soon after that, Billy decides to play a ‘joke’ on Nate, who is a funeral director. He says that there’s a body to be picked up at an old warehouse, and since Nate had no idea who was calling, he went. Carrying the gurney through the building, he gets to an elevator. He takes it up to the second floor, only to realize that there’s a picture of Claire, labeled ‘Your sister, 2008’. Going further up, he sees that photo of Billy and Claire, labeled ‘Me and your sister, 2008’. Moving along the wall, which was set up to look like a gallery, he sees a picture of him and Brenda making love. ‘You and my sister, 2008’. Moving towards a mattress covered by what seems to be a bloody sheet, Nate is freaked out. There’s a label that says ‘You did this to yourself’ underneath it, and when Nate pulls the cover off, Billy jumps out, scaring the shit out of his sister’s boyfriend before he begins laughing. It is here that Billy tells Nate about the bomb that was created for Trevor, and how Trevor thought he was the ‘king of Brenda’. He made it clear that he hated the idea that her boyfriend thought he could take her away from her family, and how Brenda isn’t able to love anyone more than she loves Billy. Nate goes on to tell Billy how he didn’t have to worry about him ruining Brenda’s life anymore, because she had broken up with him…which was true. They had actually broken up because of Billy, because Brenda thought that she needed to help him while Nate thought that it wasn’t her responsibility. He didn’t tell him this of course, but he just didn’t want to be stabbed with the X-acto knife that Billy kept casually playing with during their discussion. Even before the situation with Nate, the Chenowith parents had already started talking to Brenda about having Billy committed to a mental institution. It was here that Brenda found out about the bomb, after telling her mother that he had to cause harm to someone else or himself before they could have him committed. So, one day when Brenda was sitting home by herself, she found that her house had been broken into. She walked inside and saw Billy standing there. He was crying, and bleeding. Eventually, she saw that he had cut away at the tattooed flesh on his lower back, getting rid of the Isabel that had been imprinted there. He came at her with the box cutter he had used to remove his own tattoo with, in attempts to remove the ‘Nathaniel’ from her own back. Brenda struggled against her brother, and eventually knocked him out with a heavy object. After this, Billy was rushed to the hospital to take care of his back, while Brenda signed papers to have Billy committed to Cheshire Crossings. |
